Interoperability

Interoperability is a key objective of the eInvoicing Directive. The benefits of interoperability are identified to be in terms of savings, environmental impact, and reduction of administrative burdens.

The adoption of the European standard will make it possible for sellers to send invoices to many customers by using a single eInvoicing format and thus not having to adjust their sending and/or receiving to connect with individual trading parties.

Interoperability will be achieved at the semantic level by implementing the EU standard, and at the transport layer by using of a common exchange mechanism, the eDelivery, which is based on a federated network of PEPPOL Access Points.
